Namaste, and welcome!
There are yogis of every body type, every age, fitness level, income level, career, sexual orientation, sex identity, education level, body type, life experience, race, religion and whatever else there is out there. The fact of the matter is yoga is for everyone and for every body.
As for me, yoga has not only shown me peace and strength, but it has literally saved my life. It was right after a yoga practice that I was driving home and as I was about to turn onto my block, six houses from where I live, that a truck demolished my car and my spine was permanently destroyed.
My doctors told me it should have snapped my neck. They’ve said by all rights, I shouldn’t be alive. One said he can’t explain how I’m functioning; I should have no mobility in my right side.
That, my friends, is why they call it a medical “practice” 🙂
I do however live with chronic pain, and in addition to being a blessed and recovering addict, I’m also a fairly recently fit person, having lost over 100 pounds. Yoga has been an integral part in my mental, physical and spiritual health, and it’s my honor and privilege to share yoga and my practice with people.
It’s been an honor and sacred duty to teach yoga at Blue Moon Yoga and Fitness. This is the studio where I completed my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training, and have had the amazing opportunity to teach here within a month of starting the training (not after I finished training – within starting the training).
Teaching yoga has revolutionized my personal practice, my outlook on life as a whole, and my attitudes about the practice of yoga. It’s made me step up my mental game. It’s shown me that yoga’s not just an internal process, it’s a way of life to help me be the best version of myself in order to make an immensely positive impact on others.
Yoga has literally and figuratively saved my life. Teaching yoga provides the opportunity for me to share that with people, and it’s a gift that gives me so much, if not more, than I give others.
The Yoga For Every Body 31 Day Challenge went global, and it inspired the The Yogi’s Path To Peace Action Plan. My intention is to bring timeless yoga principles to all who are willing to do the work and take the action steps to bring their practice into their lives.
I have shared the 31 poses flow on the event linked above, as well as the 31 Day Flow here:
Yoga has been a hugely beneficial influence in my life, and I hope that you find what you need – whether you knew what that was or not when you started, you’ll surely find it once you get going! – and that I can be a part of your journey 🙂
With love and respect, from my heart to yours,
