Skate Every Damn Day is a community by a skater (that’s me!), for skaters. Roller skating was a huge game-changer for me, and initially I wanted to be this bad ass rock star roller derby athlete, and though I had a great time playing derby, I had an vehicle accident in January of 2015 that took me out of the game for good.
That’s actually okay, because I’ve had an amazing journey, and it continues!
Derby was a catalyst, but it’s truly skating as a whole that I love with such passion that I felt compelled to share the love to skaters of every type, age, and level of experience!
Our group has hundreds of skaters from around the world, and we come together for the sake of sharing stories, pictures, videos, and our trials and triumphs in our skate lives.
One of our AMAZING skaters Hammer has a fantastic website with her training videos – she’s a total bad ass and SUCH a great asset to the group!
We’ve got shirts, and we’re working on a calendar 🙂
Just like with my other challenges and the Army of 100, this was designed to give folks what I wished I had – a community of support, and people who wanted to share with me, not talk AT me. So often in the derby community there are people who, despite good intentions, bark orders at us, telling what to do and how to do it. It can be infuriating because it happens at all levels, from advanced skaters to overly critical half-assed skaters.
So, instead of critique people, I just wanted a place for people to be who they are, and to come together to grow as a community. As with every community, the skating world has its issues as well, so I wanted to focus on the positive and create a group where we celebrate victories.
We’re always recriuting, so feel free to join us and share among your leagues, friends, and associates!
It’s my purpose and mission to serve people who are ready to take action to create their own SMASHING success stories. I’m sponsoring a team, write for magazines and various communities, host challenges, and coach people to help set, achieve, and SMASH goals.
Several things help me come up with content to further serve you. First, online communities are a huge help. It’s through online communities that I’ve been able to do an needs analysis to then produce several videos and resources to help roller derby teams – and these principles can be used for any team, cause, or organization – bring in tons of funds without any outright expenses. Here is a guide to help get you started in no-cost, high-yield fundraising ideas.
Another way to help folks is by evaluating their needs, specifically habits that they want to eliminate and goals they want to achieve. If you’d like to get in on this, let me know what you’d like to work on and I’ll get you TONS of helpful resources ♥
