Welcome to the 100 Reasons to Lose 100 Pounds project page!
Here’s a little sneak peek preview spoiler of what this project is about.
This is me! I’m the same person today that I was 100 pounds ago. I still have the same thoughts, struggles, and tendencies. The difference now is that I’ve developed a healthy, sustainable lifestyle, and I have the tools, resources, and community to keep me going strong.
My intention has always been to share my experience to encourage, empower and inspire people! It contains links to my book, podcast, and each of the videos chronicling my 100 pound excess fat loss journey! I hope this page is helpful 🙂
Psst I’d love to send you super uplifting and inspiring messages! You may join my mailing list by clicking here and telling me a bit about yourself ♥

Onto the journey! Here’s my story and how I got started!
In March of 2012, I started a project that I had been thinking about doing for quite some time, and I kept waiting for the right time, the right moment, whatever the right impetus was, I wanted it.
As with many things in life, the timing comes not when we’re ready for it, but when we need it. When it came to me, I needed it desperately.
I was over 100 pounds overweight, and I’d been carrying that burden for most of my adult life. All I had known of my body from the age of 16 up was overweight, and though I was happy for the most part, I was suffering and found an effective way to punish myself. Though I enjoyed sports, I busied myself with other things and didn’t stay fit or develop sustainable, healthy habits.
It was always gaining, or I’d lose a little bit for a while, and then go right back and keep growing larger.
Things had finally caught up to me and I found my life had gotten to a point where I’d have to do something about it. I was miserable. Not only was I punishing myself still, but I was allowing myself to be punished. Hurting myself was one thing, but taking that shit from any others was NOT happening. I noticed I was letting it happen.
Enough was enough, so I decided that I wanted to do it, I wanted to do better for myself, and I came up with a list of 100 reasons to lose 100 pounds. I came up with 100 pounds because it was what I considered to be a healthy weight for my shape and height.
Since I had tried various ways to lose weight, I had some experience in what I liked, and what didn’t work for me. I also discovered that people who are successful have developed great habits in mind, body and spirit. When I made my list, I tried to keep that in mind…but now that I’m on the other side, I realized how differently things turned out in contrast to how I expected them to turn out.
It’s been an amazing ride, as all of our challenges are. Any time we do something difficult and succeed, there’s a great story there.
This is one of my stories, and it’s broken down into 100 pieces. 100 Reasons. 100 Pounds. Every day, every breath, every moment counts.
There are infinite reasons why we do what we do. Make those reasons good, because they will inspire good action 😉
I hope my story gives hope, inspiration, and courage to anyone struggling with body image, self worth, excess tendencies, addiction, sexual orientation, anger, mental illness, and many other issues that make us feel horribly. There IS hope. There IS support. There IS love out there, and there are ways to spark it and keep it roaring within.
It’s all about love, and how to find it in ourselves, around us in others, and in everything. It’s not easy to see, but just like making lifestyle and habit changes, it’s definitely worth the journey <3
So, how may I share my experience to help you SMASH your own goals? Tell me a bit about yourself right here, and we’ll do this together ♥
From my heart to yours,
Karen Petersen/Smash Tank
