BIG shout-out to Sintral Florida Derby Demons! I was SO excited to skate with the team again, and was looking forward to working on my skills.
“There’s always one thing pressing on my mind that I’m dealing with, and right now, I’m scared. I’m scared of getting hurt again.”
Getting back on skates was exciting, and every time I gear up, I’m STOKED that I get to do it. Each time though, I’m nervous, even now (and I skate daily). I’ve learned that the body compensates and adjusts after an injury, and when falls or close calls happen I can feel my body respond in a “hell fucking no!!!” manner. My body and my mind want me to stay healthy and intact, and I’m thankful for the injuries I’ve experienced because they’re in the past and over with, and my body has learned how to respond. My mind still plays some tricks on me, so that’s all the more reason to trust my body and to keep skating so the muscle memory helps when things get uncomfortable or uncertain!
I’d be happy to send you helpful tips and resources to guide you in your transformation – you are welcome to join my mailing list by clicking here!
Thanks for joining me on this journey!
